Jerry Spagnoli, b. 1956

Instructor at Penland: 2000, 2002, 2004

Jerry Spagnoli is the leading contemporary practitioner of the nineteenth century daguerreotype process. This process captures an image with remarkable clarity on the surface of a polished silver plate. Spagnoli used this process in several photographic series to document important sites in New York City, observations of flora, and studies of the human body.
