Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) were created in the late 1800s to help educate Native and African Americans post the American Civil War. Within that academic culture have grown thematic colors, fields of study, Greek fraternities and sororities, rivalries, and sister schools which creates cultures within a culture.
