Mint Museum Uptown

Members are invited to enjoy a walking tour with Jaki Shelton Green and Monique Luck in their new exhibition, The Communion of White Dresses.

Jaki Shelton Green and Monique Luck have collaborated to bring an interactive, artistic poetic installation to life, using the words from Green’s poem: “The Communion of White Dresses”. This exhibition reimagines the tradition, symbolism, and representation of white dresses, exploring their intersection with the generational culture of white dresses and the black female body politic.

Land and Labor Acknowledgement

The Mint Museum sits on colonized land traditionally home to Catawba, Cheraw, Sugaree, Waxhaw, and other Indigenous peoples who resided, met, and traded here. The Mint also acknowledges the unpaid and hidden labor of enslaved peoples of African ancestry who helped build the Mint Museum at Randolph Rd at various stages in the building's history.
