SUMMARY:The Art of Reading Tour: The Warmth of Other Suns
DESCRIPTION:Isabel Wilkerson’s 2011 book\, The Warmth of Other Suns\, follows three individuals\, representative of the six million Black Southerners who participated in the Great Migration to northern or western destinations.   These millions of people left harsh\, dangerous\, and potentially fatal conditions in the south with the hope of a better life.  The Wall Street Journal’s review of the work states\, “Ms. Wilkerson does for the Great Migration what John Steinbeck did for the Okies in his fiction masterpiece\, The Grapes of Wrath…”   After a discussion of the book\, take a docent-led tour of selected works that enhance this work. \nMarch 1\, 2020\nMint Museum Uptown | 2–3:30 PM\nFree for Mint Members \nRegister Here\n\nThis event is located at Mint Museum Uptown \n\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:[vc_single_image image=”34624″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”]The Mint Museum is proud to present the acclaimed documentary CUNNINGHAM\, a timely tribute to one of the world’s greatest modern dance artists. This is a good time to remember that nonfiction films can be theatrical experiences that demand to be seen on the largest screen possible.” – Variety \n\nLive at the Mint\nWednesday\, March 4\n6–9 PM | Mint Museum Uptown\nFREE. SUMMARY:Bilingual Stories & Music
DESCRIPTION:Photo credit: José G. Vázquez\nBilingual Stories & Music is a program for children (ages 0-6) and their families\, held on once a month on Saturday mornings at the Mint Museum Randolph. For this free event\, performers use a combination of bilingual stories (Spanish/English)\, music\, musical instruments\, toys\, puppets\, and games to interact with the audience. This program was created to reach out to Latin-American families living in the U.S. whose children are growing up bilingual. However\, at the present\, the program has attracted non-Hispanic families as well who see the importance of their children being exposed to the Spanish language and to Latin culture. The Mint Museum supports this program by reaching out quarterly to the Latin-American community\, bilingual preschools\, libraries\, and community centers. \n  \n  \nMarch 7\, 2020\nMint Museum Randolph | 11:15 AM – Noon\nFree Event \n\nThis event is located at Mint Museum Randolph\n\n

DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: This event has been canceled.
