Charlotte Garden Club: Sam Fleming

November 19, 2018 @ 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Free

What started as a rebuilding strategy for victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, 100 Gardens has evolved into a multifaceted educational program focused on aquaponics as a platform for experimental learning and a sustainable means of food production for the future. Sam Fleming serves as Co-Director and is putting this Charlotte-based non-profit on the national radar.

The Charlotte Garden Club meets on the third Monday of every month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Mint Museum Randolph. All programs are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Visit charlottegardenclub.org for more details.

The Charlotte Garden Club was established in 1924 and is the oldest garden club in North Carolina. In 1954, it became the first affiliate of The Mint Museum. The Garden Club’s mission is to encourage the love and knowledge of all aspects of gardening, horticulture, and the artistic use of growing things through educational programs, garden tours, and related community projects. Programs bring nationally recognized experts and regional authorities in horticulture and landscape design to the Mint. Community projects include maintenance of gardens and plantings at the Mint; landscaping of Habitat for Humanity homes; and support for the Billingsville Elementary School garden. The Charlotte Garden Club’s major fundraiser is the Art in the Garden tour. Held in April, the two-day event features a tour of Charlotte gardens with plein-air artists painting in each one.
