Falling in Love with Dutch Design
February 14, 2020 @ 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
As part of our Dutch Design Lecture Series, Annie Carlano, Senior Curator of Craft, Design, & Fashion for the Mint Museum will give a talk about Dutch Design in the twenty-first century.
From furniture to fashion, design in the Netherlands is known for its beguiling forms, unusual materials, and an altruism that reflects concern for the environment, social and political causes, and emotional impact. This curator’s talk with highlight the exceptional works of art by Dutch artists or artists trained in the Netherlands, as well as those done by the hottest designers of the moment, including Studio Drift, Iris van Herpen, Simone Post, and others voted best young designers at Dutch Design Week 2019. Many of the works being referenced in the talk are a part of The Mint Museum’s collection or are on view at Mint Museum Uptown.
