Public Opening: Coined in the South
October 10 @ 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Join us for The Young Affiliates 4th Annual art show, Coined in the South, on the opening night: Thursday, October 10 at The Mint Museum Uptown.
Coined in the South is the Young Affiliates of the Mint’s 4th annual YAM Art Show. This year’s show is extra special, as it is being curated by The Mint Museum as a main exhibition of 2019-2020. The title, Coined in the South, refers not only to The Mint Museum’s origins as the first branch of the United States Mint, but also to the act of inventing and/or devising. Out of over 350 artist submissions, 46 unique artists were selected by the three person jury. This year’s jury was headed by three leaders from the North Carolina arts community: Adam Justice, Jonell Logan, and Marilyn Zapf. Unconfined to any aesthetic, theme, or medium, this show seeks to be a platform for both established and emerging artists currently working in and/or from the Southeast.
Join us for Coined in the South’s opening night on Thursday, October 10th at The Mint Museum Uptown. The show will be open for viewing in the 4th floor gallery space, along with light snacks and a cash bar in the 5th floor ballroom from 7pm to 9pm.* Please note, no drinks are permitted in the 4th floor gallery space.
