(tex)Tile: Telling Stories with Ceramic Garments and the Body

Join Shae Bishop, ceramist, clothing designer, furniture maker, for a presentation at Mint Museum Randolph. Bishop examines the relationships between ceramics and textiles by making wearable garment-sculptures. Originally from Kentucky, he earned his bachelor’s degree in fine arts in Ceramics and Art History from the Kansas City Art Institute. He has exhibited work nationally and internationally, and has worked as studio assistant to sculptor Cristina Córdova. He has been awarded residencies at The Archie Bray Foundation in Montana, Red Star Studios in Kansas City, San Diego State University, and elsewhere in the United States, as well as in Hungary, Turkey, and Indonesia. He is currently based in North Carolina in the Penland-area artist community.
